Patriots, Julian Edelman reportedly reach agreement on 2-year extension

Julian Edelman has spent his entire eight-year career with the Patriots and he’ll remain in New England for the forseeable future.

Edelman and the Patriots agreed Thursday on a two-year extension that runs through the 2019 season, ESPN first reported.

“Obviously, the best passing team in the league. Just adding more to the run game,” Peterson said of his responsibilities. “Putting yourself in a position to be more dominant in the run game. It just makes it hard for teams to matchup again. That’s something I’m looking forward to.”

Coincidentally, Peterson and the Saints will travel to Minnesota Week 1 of the regular season to face the Vikings. Peterson will certainly be motivated to show his former home fans he still has gas left in the tank.

The Panthers, entering their third week of OTAs, expect Newton to be fully healthy for the start of training camp in July.

Newton suffered the partially torn rotator cuff against the Chargers in Week 14 last season.
